5. Reports
a. Principal
Principal Brownlee gave an explanation of the role of parent council as an advisory board for the school. Parent Council is a liaison between parents and the school bringing feedback to the principal and communication to the school community.
One of the primary goals of parent council is to raise funds for the students. The operating budget for the school is very limited at approximately $30,000 for the entire year. Fundraising monies are used for extra curricular activities, materials, supplies (including agendas) and equipment that the board will not cover.
The board now requires 14 days notice of any event or fundraiser held by the school.
b. Co-Chairs
c. Treasurer’s/Financial Statements
Mrs. Booth advised she will be attending a BBQ on September 14th at Lakepoint Village. They are continuing their can and bottle drive which they donate proceeds to the Breakfast Club. Mrs. Booth will not be attending parent council meetings any longer for work/life balance
(Thank you Sue for your help over these past years!)
